Context/Scope:
Technical Operators maintain and operate the key production and utility plant in the operating breweries of Guinness Nigeria Plc. In Brewing and Packaging they report to an appropriate Shift Manager, while in Engineering and Utilities they report to the Production Services Engineer. Brewer.
Dimensions:
Financial
The financial scope of the role includes the production of over 1.5 million hectolitres of beer in final package at an annual value of over N1.6billion.
Market Complexity
In general works in accordance with Standard Operating Practice (SOP) as applicable in his/her designated role. Maintains his/her plant in terms of output, hygiene and maintenance, with periodic specialist support as required. In the event of plant breakdown, depending on the nature of the same, either restores the status quo or works with specialists to return to the status quo.
Leadership Responsibilities
The role holder ensures adequate coverage of shift, showing absolute support for colleagues as well as good team spirit.
Purpose of Role
To deliver the required output from his designated area of responsibility.

Works in accordance with SOP. Responsible for ensuring he/she is in full familiarity with the required procedures.
Works safely, taking care of him/herself and those around them.
Acts as a strongly contributing member of a team, supporting colleagues and manager to achieve team objectives.

Qualifications and Experience Required
OND in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering as applicable or equivalent
2 to 5 years experience in Food Industry would be added advantage.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To ensure bench work quality control determination are carried out in accordance with Guinness Nigeria’s quality procedures and specifications for the attainment of high quality products. Ensure that accurate business decisions are made around quality of components and products based on the quality of analyses.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Performs designated analysis of samples promptly and accurately
Determines and reports analytical parameters, as appropriate and as specified
Works within guidelines to ensure that results are repeatable and aligned to other laboratories on an interchange basis
Ensures analyses results are properly documented in line with Guinness Nigeria’s procedures and results sent to user dept promptly
Liaises with stakeholders within the Supply function to deliver products of the highest quality
Acts as a key member of the Quality team, displaying behaviours expected of a strong team player
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or equivalent qualifications in physical, chemical or biological sciences
Minimum of two (2) years work experience in a laboratory environment
Result oriented individual
Good communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to quickly adapt to change
Achievement orientation and responsiveness
Barriers to Success in Role:
Lack of good work ethics
Lack of required speed to respond to changes posed by new analytical methods and equipment

Guinness Nigeria Recruits Condition Monitoring Technician

Reports To: Brewery Maintenance Planners
Context/Scope
Nigeria is currently the world’s third largest market for the Guinness Brand. The Condition Monitoring Technicians are responsible for ensuring that the condition monitoring program effectively predicts and prevent equipment failures.
Dimensions:
a) Financial
Key role in predicting and developing corrective actions to prevent failures through condition monitoring and tracking. This impacts directly on plant availability, asset life cycle cost and asset life/replacement frequency.
b) Market Complexity
The Nigerian beer market is complex with many competitors and a strong quality, cost and delivery focus.
c) Leadership Responsibilities
Effective liaison with other Brewing, Packaging, Production Services and Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Engineers, Maintenance planners, Shift Managers and Contractors, to ensure maximum plant availability and continuity of reliable, quality production.
Purpose of Role
To apply technical, process, continuous improvement and individual/team development skills to optimise overall brewery improvement and plant performance through predictive and preventive maintenance.
Principal Accountabilities
Provide a comprehensive production service on plant and equipment to which they are primarily allocated: assessing & monitoring plant performance on an ongoing basis and attending to all other process duties in a timely manner.
Adhere to GNPLC policy and procedures for safety, health, environment and hygiene to ensure a safe and efficient operating environment.
Deliver best possible plant operation by maximising plant availability and efficiency of operation through execution of Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules. Interface with CMMS as appropriate.
Implementation of condition monitoring tasks through work order process.
Develop condition monitoring, inspection and lubrication routes and manage through a condition-monitoring database.
Identification of corrective actions to prevent failures, managed through the maintenance forward planning business process.
Actively pursue training and development on an individual and team basis and participate in competency based training programs.
Compile and commentate whatever reports are required these include status sheets, meter reading trends, check sheets, condition monitoring sheets, Hit/Miss report e.t.c.
Assist in the development of reliability based maintenance tasks based on a risk assessment of failures. (FastTracc RCM).
Qualifications and Experience Required
4 years experience/competence in Operations, Maintenance, Process Control and Performance Measurement in a brewery or drinks or food manufacturing environment.
Ideally have an appropriate qualification in Brewing, Packaging, Engineering or Utilities (as appropriate) and/or a nationally recognised technical qualification, preferably HND.
Demonstrate understanding of teamwork principles, continuous improvement, preventative maintenance and problem solving.
Barriers to Success in Role
Inadequate skill level to successfully operate and maintain both new and ageing assets and technology.
Lack of personal flexibility to function in a tightly manned manufacturing environment with volatile production and sales demand.
Poor inclination to pursue training and development on an individual and team basis or to share and apply new skills acquired.
